200 Jahre wird es alt – und kein bisschen leise: Das Gewandhaus-Quartett.
Anlässlich dieses großen Jubiläums erscheint die Sonderedition „Gewandhaus-Quartett in concert“ mit Werken von Schumann, Spohr und Schubert.
Alle drei Komponisten sind eng verbunden mit der Geschichte des Ensembles: Viele ihrer Werke wurden im Gewandhaus uraufgeführt. Diese Doppel-CD präsentiert vier außergewöhnliche Instrumentalstücke der drei Komponisten, drei davon wurden in den vergangenen Jahren mit berühmten Gastmusikern und dem Dirigenten Herbert Blomstedt eingespielt: das schubertsche „Streichquintett C-Dur D 956“ (2007), das „Konzert für Streichquartett und Orchester a-Moll op. 131“ (2005) von Louis Spohr und das „Quintett Es-Dur op. 44 für Klavier, zwei Violinen, Viola und Violoncello” (2006) von Robert Schumann. Schuberts „Forellenquintett“ in einer historischen Aufnahme von 1928 rundet diese Sonderedition im goldenen Digipack mit Schuber und ausführlichem Booklet ab.

Two hundred years old – and still going strong: The Gewandhaus-Quartett.
A special edition – Gewandhaus-Quartett In Concert – featuring works by Schumann,
Spohr and Schubert has been released to celebrate this important anniversary.
All three composers are closely tied to the ensemble’s history and many of their works
enjoyed premiere performances at the Gewandhaus.
This double CD presents four outstanding instrumental pieces composed by the three composers – three of them were recorded in previous years with famous guest musicians, conducted by Herbert Blomstedt: Schubert’s String Quintet in C major D 956 (2007), Louis Spohr’s Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra in A minor op. 131 (2005) and Robert Schumann’s Quintet in E-flat major op. 44 for piano, two violins, viola and violoncello (2006). This special golden slipcase digipack edition is rounded off by the historic 1928 recording of Schubert’s Trout Quintet and a comprehensive booklet.
